Product Description

    A damper is a device that reduces or eliminates vibration by applying a force opposite to the direction of vibration (i.e. damping force). The core principle is to convert vibration energy into thermal energy or other forms of energy, thereby gradually reducing the amplitude of vibration until it stops. Damping force is usually proportional to the speed of motion of the vibration system, and this energy dissipation mechanism is the key to achieving damping effect of dampers. 

    Viscous fluid dampers are mainly composed of pistons, cylinder bodies, end caps, damping media, and connecting bodies. The piston divides the cylinder into two parts. During the reciprocating motion of the piston in the cylinder, the damping medium flows rapidly in the two separate chambers. The molecules of the medium generate intense friction between the medium and the piston. When the medium passes through the piston hole, it produces a huge throttling damping, and the combined force of these effects becomes the damping force. The damping force generated in the flow converts seismic kinetic energy into heat dissipation through the reciprocating motion of the piston in the damping medium, gradually reducing the speed of the piston movement and achieving the purpose of damping energy dissipation.
    Due to the fact that the viscous fluid damper is a velocity dependent damper without stiffness, it does not change the inherent dynamic characteristics of the structure during operation. It only provides additional damping to the structure, and the damping force displacement hysteresis curve is full and approximately rectangular, giving it stable dynamic characteristics and strong energy dissipation capacity.


Viscous  damper working principle:

    2. its use of liquid mobility, liquid due to changes in the flow path area triggered by changes in the liquid pressure with the resulting damping force, the whole process, the kinetic energy is converted into heat dissipation, thus playing a dissipation of seismic capacity, the role of protecting the main structure.
   


Maintenance frequency:
    The maintenance frequency of viscous dampers depends on their usage scenarios and design lifespan. Generally speaking, viscous dampers used in construction should undergo an initial inspection after one year of installation, followed by regular inspections every three, five, ten, and ten years after completion. If encountering disasters such as strong earthquakes, strong winds, fires, etc., timely inspections should be carried out. In addition, if the viscous damper is installed in harsh environmental conditions such as exposure to sunlight, rain, or immersion in water, personnel should be arranged to conduct regular (one year) inspections and maintenance.
