Basic principles of dampers
    A damper is a device that reduces or eliminates vibration by applying a force opposite to the direction of vibration (i.e. damping force). The core principle is to convert vibration energy into thermal energy or other forms of energy, thereby gradually reducing the amplitude of vibration until it stops. Damping force is usually proportional to the speed of motion of the vibration system, and this energy dissipation mechanism is the key to achieving damping effect of dampers.

    The viscous damper is composed of a cylinder, a piston, viscous fluid, and a guide rod. The cylinder is filled with viscous fluid, and the piston can move back and forth in the cylinder. There are appropriate small holes on the piston or gaps between the piston and the cylinder. When the structure deforms and causes relative motion between the cylinder and piston, it forces viscous fluid to flow through small holes or gaps, thereby generating damping force and dissipating vibration energy through viscous energy dissipation, achieving the purpose of shock absorption.
